Every spring several students are hired to take part in a Downtown Winnipeg BIZ team. The promotions team sweeps sidewalks, waters flowers, and entertains downtown patrons, while the Clean Team maintains plants, conducts grafitti removal, and does large clean-up jobs. Red River College
Red River College offers hands-on technical and theory training in one year certificate, two year diploma, and advanced diploma programs, many of which include a co-op or a work placement. Environment-related programs include applied biology, applied environmental studies, chemical and biosciences technology, environmental protection technology, geographic information systems technology, green space management, quality system in research (genomics), and waste water management, among other related courses.
STEP Services
The provincial government's Education, Citizenship, and Youth sector offers this program that connects students with full-time summer employment, co-op work terms, part-time jobs during the school year, and a limited number of job exchanges with Quebec and New Brunswick.
