Key Labour & Employment Law Considerations During a Pandemic

April 22, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Presenter: Rob Olson, Thompson Dorfman Sweatman (TDS)

How to navigate through the disruptions of a pandemic — lay-offs, safety concerns, terminations, notice, Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), Employment Insurance (EI), force majeure clauses, frustration of contract…and what to do when things get back to “normal”.

Attendee will learn the following:
1. How lay-offs work and what you can and cannot do.
2. What options are available under COVID-19 in terms of employees and operations.
3. What lessons can be learned from the pandemic.

Rob’s practice is focused in the area of Labour and Employment. He has significant experience in unionized workplaces, and acts primarily for employers, but also unions and employees, and does independent workplace investigations, thereby providing a unique advantage for clients. He also handles Pension Law issues for clients, in addition to advising and defending employers in Workplace Safety and Health inspections, investigations, and charges.
