MEIA Joins Manitoba Chambers of Commerce Economic Development Tour to Churchill

Last week, MEIA had the opportunity to join the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce's Economic Development Tour to Churchill, connecting with industry leaders, Indigenous partners, government representatives, and businesses working together to shape the future of northern Manitoba. The two-day tour offered valuable insight into the projects, partnerships, and infrastructure driving economic growth in one of Canada's most strategic regions.

Throughout the tour, participants visited key sites including the Port of Churchill, the Churchill Marine Observatory, the Churchill Northern Studies Centre, and several local businesses and organizations. Discussions highlighted the growing importance of Arctic trade, critical minerals, northern infrastructure, research, tourism, and Indigenous partnerships in supporting Manitoba's long-term economic future.

For MEIA, the tour reinforced the important connection between environmental stewardship and economic development. As Manitoba continues to invest in northern opportunities, collaboration between industry, Indigenous communities, government, researchers, and environmental professionals will play an essential role in ensuring sustainable growth.

The week concluded with a meeting at the Manitoba Legislature, where MEIA met with the Province of Manitoba to discuss priorities impacting our members, including workforce development initiatives and opportunities to strengthen Manitoba's environmental sector.

By participating in conversations like these, MEIA continues to advocate for our members while staying informed on the projects, policies, and partnerships shaping Manitoba's environmental industry.

Thank you to the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce for organizing another informative Economic Development Tour and to all of the organizations that welcomed participants to Churchill and shared their expertise.
