This understanding is especially pertinent in natural resource extraction, mining, and forestry, but Indigenous relations have far reached financial and social impacts in any industry.
Whether your focus is in recruitment, business development, or training, this workshop will help you and your team build informed, effective, and respectful relationships with Metis, Indigenous Peoples and communities.

This one-day workshop was developed by the MEIA in conjunction with the University of Manitoba. The Potable Water and Groundwater Sampling workshop offers an introduction to typical impacts, sources and movement of impacts focusing on LNAPL and DNAPL considerations; regulatory review; groundwater well construction and installation considerations; groundwater well development purging and sampling protocols.
The field portion of this workshop provides hands-on instruction on groundwater well development, purging and sampling. Note: The University of Manitoba offers 1.5 credit hours for taking this full day course, as well as the Environmental Field Investigation session noted above.

The Indigenous Housing Quality Analysts Program (IHQAP) addresses housing supply chain challenges in Manitoba's Indigenous communities. It enhances community capacity and establishes a structured approach for sustainable housing inspections, inventory management, and upgrades.
IHQAP trains FN Housing Managers and designated individuals to become Housing Quality Analysts, equipped to assess their community's housing inventory. Ideal for those with building and trades experience, the 6-week program covers training, inspections, a final exam, computer tablet training, and housing software assessment.

In conjunction with the University of Manitoba, we have developed this one day soil sampling workshop, providing hands on field work instruction in soil sampling and drill rig safety.
Participants should expect to gain practical experience in aspects of environmental soil, water, and air sampling. There will also be an overview of provincial and federal regulations as they pertain to environmental site assessments; and a discussion on laboratory analysis of parameters commonly considered in Manitoba.
By taking this course, students will gain 1.5 credit hours if the Potable Water and Groundwater Sampling course is taken with it. Only students who register through the University of Manitoba under the coordination of Mark Hanson, Dept of Environment and Geography will be eligible.

Elite Safety Services Inc. is a Canadian company that provides customized safety training and standby services to a wide variety of sectors, including industrial, construction, manufacturing, and oil and gas.
The H2S Alive Training Program is the gold standard in Canada and known worldwide. Students will learn how to safely work in and around hydrogen sulphide (H2S) environments and get a 3-year certificate as proof of their skills.

In partnership with The Canadian Red Cross
MEIA, in partnership with Canadian Red Cross, offer First Aid training in Emergency First-Aid w/ CPR Level C (3-year Canadian Red Cross Certification in First-Aid w/ CPR Level C and AED). This course provides the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for Adults, Children and Infants. It includes training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as well as basic first-aid. The course is Manitoba Workplace Health & Safety approved. This course is available through MEIA for MEIA Members only and course dates available throughout the year.

ISO 14001:2015, a key player in this series, outlines the criteria for an environmental management system that any organization can adopt and seek certification for.
This standard serves as a blueprint, providing a framework for organizations to establish an effective environmental management system. To empower senior executives and professionals in navigating this landscape, we present the ISO 14001 Awareness Course for Senior Executives, the ISO 14001 Awareness Course, and the ISO 14001 Internal Auditor’s Training Course, all brought to you through our partnership with ECO Canada.

The Manitoba Construction Sector Council collaborated with industry partners to create a Mould and Asbestos Removal/Remediation course that will address specific training gaps in the homebuilding industry throughout Manitoba. This course has been designed as a stand- alone course for entry level construction workers and alternatively, as a condensed add-on course for graduates of the MCSC Finisher course.
The Mould and Asbestos Removal/Remediation course combines classroom and practical learning activities. It will teach technical skills (knowledge of tools, equipment and processes) and will embed safety training and Essential Skills throughout the program (reading, measurement document use, communication, physical dexterity, working with others).
Career opportunities can be found in the construction industry.

In line with our commitment to promoting Education, Awareness, and Workforce Development, the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association actively supports the cultivation of soft skills among individuals in the Natural Resources, Energy, and Environment sectors.
Soft skills, essential non-academic qualities for employment, are crucial in the Energy, Environment, and Cleantech industries. Job forecasting data specific to Manitoba, covering the period from 2018 to 2024, indicates a growing demand for attributes such as active listening, speaking, reading comprehension, critical thinking, and monitoring.
To meet this demand, our Leadership Training programs offer a range of soft-skills courses, workshops, and programs, including Flexible Leadership, Teamwork Fundamentals, Productive Conflict, and Agile Leadership. These initiatives are facilitated in partnership with Padraig Coaching & Consulting Inc., ensuring individuals are equipped with the necessary skills for success in their careers.

This course covers Environmental Laws in Manitoba. It gives a quick history and explains the purpose of environmental law, with a specific focus on Environmental Assessment, the Environment Act, the Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act, and the Contaminated Sites Remediation Act.
All registrants receive an updated Primer on Manitoba Environmental Law.

In partnership with HazMatters
The 4-day HAZWOPER/NFPA 1072 course focuses on what hazardous materials are, how they are classified, what we need to think about in order to approach them, and how to evaluate and simply understand their toxicological effects.
Delivered by Bart Taylor, a senior HazMat Specialist, this HAZWOPER/NFPA 1072 training covers the clearly defined methods and protocols used by HazMat Specialists internationally to ensure that personnel operate in the safest possible manner.

The Waste Management Site Worker course is addresses the growing challenge of managing increasing waste volume and complexity while ensuring safety and minimal community and environmental impact. This initiative aims to equip waste management workers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to handle evolving challenges in waste disposal grounds, transfer stations, and related activities.
Waste management roles, including those at disposal sites and transfer stations, rank among Canada's top 10 most hazardous jobs. The evolving complexity of waste components, such as new chemicals and explosive batteries, amplifies this challenge. As a result, waste management in Manitoba now requires a highly skilled and essential workforce. Their tasks encompass safe and efficient waste handling while safeguarding the community and environment.

We partnered with the Manitoba Construction Sector Council (MCSC) and the Northern Manitoba Sector Council (NMSC) to develop and deliver the Assistant Water Operator Training Course.
Participants learn the basic of water disinfection, testing, sedimentation and sand filters. The lessons delivered are specific to the water system training required in that community.
Course materials designed for the community will remain in the community for future reference. Instructors are experienced in training in community and using existing facilities as part of the curriculum.
