Area 55 Advanced Cold Research Facility
Area 55 Advanced Cold Research Facility is a sub-arctic vehicle testing site located in Thompson, Manitoba, Canada. Leveraging a climate that dips below freezing an average of 222 days a year with up to six months of snow coverage, Area 55 provides automotive manufacturers with authentic, real-world cold-weather testing conditions — eliminating the need for costly artificial cold chambers. The facility's extended winter season allows testers to carry out cold-climate evaluations efficiently and reliably, setting a new standard for cold weather vehicle testing.
